This series of painterly installations are based on the text of Clarice Lispector “the imitation of the rose”, where she takes the most cliche subject associated with women - the rose, to express deep intuitive feelings of lack in her character.
“And she missed the roses. They had left a bright space inside her. Remove an object from a clean table and from the even cleaner mark it leaves you can see that dust had been surrounding it...Like a greater lack...’Where are my roses,’ she wailed without pain while smoothing the pleats in her skirt. ”
In my work i collect material ruins in form of broken , leftover materials from the studio and my room. The painted canvas itself becomes a material of the same value as a gift wrapping paper or cotton fabric. The act of wrapping suggests preservation and decoration- often a role attributed to women in the house. The construction itself does not have a strong foundation, nor does it serve any function. It relies and imitates the main order of the dominant architecture. It follows it’s own intuitive order and needs to be assembled every time it enters a new space.
